We are pleased to announce the release of
Geek OpenStreetMap v2.2.0 for Joomla.
This update introduces several new configuration options that give site administrators greater control over map interaction and help improve the user experience on mobile devices.
What's New
New "Dragging" Option
A new
Dragging setting has been added to the module, allowing you to specify whether the map can be dragged using a mouse or touch gestures. When disabled, visitors can scroll through the page without accidentally moving the map, providing a smoother browsing experience, especially on mobile devices.
New Plugin Settings
The
Content - Geek OpenStreetMap plugin has been enhanced with additional configuration options:
- Map Width
- Map Height
- Scroll Wheel Zoom
- Dragging
These settings make it easier to customize map behavior directly from the plugin and provide better control over how maps are displayed within articles.
Improved Mobile Scrolling Experience
One of the main goals of this release is to address a common usability issue where interactive maps can interfere with page scrolling on mobile devices.
By disabling map dragging and scroll wheel zoom when appropriate, visitors can continue scrolling naturally without becoming "trapped" inside the map area. This results in a much better experience for touch devices and long-content pages.
Update Today
We recommend all Geek OpenStreetMap users update to version 2.2.0 to take advantage of these new options and improved mobile usability.
Thank you for your continued support and feedback, which helps us make Geek OpenStreetMap better with every release.
